Hello and Welcome to another Issue of Irish Sport Horse Magazine. This time we chat to Irish Equestrian Helena Ryan who is Wild about Western. Helena Shares her journey into Western Riding, along with her passion for the American Paint Horse. Helena features on this month’s cover with her young colt Jinetes Del Cielo at the European Paint Horse Championships 2019, the Picture is by Dirk Buttner of LUX Company in Germany.
Keeping with the Western Theme & the American Paint Horse our Journalist Jordan Bastian takes a look into the history of this Colourful Character, which is winning the hearts of Equestrians all over the World.
This month we also caught up with Irish Entrepreneur, Elaine Kelly, about her clever Start Up, Wise Owl Equitation. This platform connects Top Equestrian Coaches with Riders from around the Globe, virtually; and gives Equestrians the chance to access Top Class Training without leaving their own yard.
Staying with our Western Theme, Jordan takes a deeper look into the Ethos behind Natural Horsemanship when she chats with Natural Horsemanship Trainer Deborah Kinnett.
In our Health Section this time, we take a look a Copper Deficiency in Horses, the signs and symptoms of a problem, and what may be the cause. Plus in our Fun Fact, we take a look at the Benefits of Cow Parsley for your horse.
We have a special piece this time when we look at Historic Horses, and Jordan shares the story behind one of the greatest Thoroughbred Horses to ever walk the earth, Secretariat. It is a wonderful story, that many of you may already know, but I for one, never tire of hearing it.
My Lovely Horse Rescue, share a Cinderella Story with us, about a forgotten Race Horse called War Celeste. Rescued by MLHR in 2018, the mare was discovered starving in a barn in Co. Cork along with 10 other horses. This fantastic story illustrates the amazing work MLHR do, and just take a look at the transformation of Celeste.
As always we have our Results Round Up, and all our Irish Equestrians have been doing extremely well over the past month.
To finish on our Positive Note, we share the story of Endo the Blind Horse. This is incredible tale and it shows the dedication and passion of one owner, Morgan Wagner, to ensure that her horse has every chance to live a full life, despite a serious disability.
Well that’s all for this month, we will see you all again in July and Remember To Enjoy the Summer & Fingers Crossed the Sun Will Shine Now Lockdown is Over;-)
To Your Equestrian Success,
