Well, have we got a Super Duper Issue for you this time. For our Horse in Film Special, Irish Sport Horse Magazine caught up with Irish Equestrians that took part in such Productions as Braveheart, Game of Thrones, Vikings and the Tudors.
We Chat to Equestrian Actor Adam Goodwin, who had worked on Vikings, and the Tudors to Name a few. Adam who is an avid Equestrian, shares how he got his start in the Industry and what he loves about it, and how being an Equestrian Actor has opened up so many Fantastic Roles for him.
Meanwhile our own Jessica Soley chats with Irish Event Rider Jim Newsam, who in the off season works as an Equestrian Extra. Jim has worked on Productions such as Game of Thrones, Outlaw King, and the The Crown. He shares his experiences, and how his skills as an Event rider come in handy when teaching horses to jump trenches on set!
Belle Phipps one of the Costume Designers from Game of Thrones, fills us in on the stressful job of keeping all the Equestrians in Costume, DRY and Warm!
We also hear from proprietor of Calliaghstown Equestrian Centre Anthony Byrne, who doubles up as an Equestrian Extra from time to time. Anthony worked on Braveheart in the 90’s and more recently he was involved in Vikings, for which he not only played a part but he also supplied some of the horses too.
