Irish Sport Horse Magazine #12

Can you believe it’s our October Issue already!!!  We are almost a full year in business, and what a spectacular year it has been for Irish Equestrians and Irish Horses around the Globe.

This October we have some great Articles to Share with you that are very Topical for the time of year.  Our own Jessica Soley BHSI discusses the symptoms, causes and effects of Sycamore Poisoning.  Sycamore poisoning has become more prevalent in recent years, and after periods of bad weather such as the likes of Storm Lorenzo, it can cause the sycamore seeds to scatter many meters from the source.  This can potentially cause real problems for horse owners where Sycamore trees are situated on or near the boarders of fields, as the seeds and seedlings are toxic to horses, and can be fatal.

Jessica’s Second article outlines the dos and don’ts of weaning, which is very appropriate at this time of year, whether you are weaning foals in preparation for sales or just for the winter ahead.

I share my thoughts on a topic that I have seen many times and also seems to be a hot topic of the moment, that being “You Cannot Train Pain in Your Horse”.  I outline some of the symptoms that your horse may be experiencing problems, and what to do about the problem.  Plus I share a little of my personal story that lead me to train as a Human and Equine Chiropractor and Massage Therapist.

In the Just for Fun Section we share some of our Top 10 Halloween Outfits from Around the Web, to give you some Ideas for You and Your horse as we head toward Halloween!

In This Month’s Star Interview we caught up with the Hugely Talented Susan Fitzpatrick to find out a little bit about her life and career with horses so far, and that truly Amazing 4th Place Finish in the Longines Grand Prix in the Dublin Horse Show, with the Super Horse, Fellow Castle Field.

We also have a Super Article from the Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association, giving us a little information on this wonderful versatile breed, and also raising awareness as it is now an endangered breed.

Lastly we finish with our results round up, outlining just how well our Irish Equestrians have been fairing around the world over the past 4 weeks.  What a result for a spectacular year, Ireland is for the first time in History Fielding 3 Equestrian Teams for the Tokyo Olympics 2020; Eventing, Dressage and Now Showjumping!

As always if you would like us to cover any topic in our articles please just drop us an email and let us know.  Alternatively, if you would like to contribute an Equestrian Article, please submit your request via email.

We hope you have a truly Spooktacular October and we look forward to sharing more information and inspiring stories with you next month, until then,

To Your Equestrian Success,

Roma
