It was sad news this week when Irish Dressage Rider Judy Reynolds announced the retirement of her wonderful horse Vancouver K, other wise known as JP.
Judy and Vancouver K graced the cover of our Magazine back in March 2019, with an amazing shot courtesy of Judy herself and the talented photographer Katharina Lachs, you can see a picture of the Cover to the left.
Judy Reynolds and Vancouver K were instrumental in taking Irish Dressage to New Heights and Inspiring a Generation of Young Irish Riders to Dream Big.
There have been so many amazing pieces from the Equestrian World sharing this Duo’s amazing achievements. Irish Sport Horse Magazine wanted to pay tribute to this incredible combination in our own way, so we wrote a short poem about their wonderful partnership. We hope you enjoy. Enjoy your retirement JP.
The Lord & Lady of the Dance
By Roma Burke DC AMC
Astride a horse so noble and strong,
An Irish Girl carried the Nation’s Song.
She embarked on a dream with determination to achieve,
The Heights they soared to, no one could foresee,
The Magic of a bond developed over years,
Had Irish Eyes brimming with Joyful Tears,
As with each passing year, they upped their game,
Bringing Irish Dressage, New Recognition & Fame,
Olympic Finals, World Cups and A Historic Team Affair,
Saw this Duo accomplish all, with elegance and flair,
Irish Dressage remains indebted to the Lord & Lady of the Dance,
For Judy & JP, truly had a Partnership that could Entrance.
It may be the end of Competition for this wonderful Team,
Thank you for the memories & for inspiring Young Irish Riders to Dream.
