The Dublin Horse Show 2020 is yet another casualty of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Royal Dublin Society has just today made the decision to cancel this years show, in the interest of health and safety. The 2020 Show was to run from 15th to 19th of July, approximately a month earlier than normal, due to the Olympics which were to begin in August.
The Dublin Horse Show is a major Sporting Event in the Irish Calendar and it brings Top Equestrian Athletes and Equestrian Enthusiasts from around the Globe, attracting over 100,000 visitors over the 5 days.
The Showjumping classes are second to none, with two of the Highlights being The Nations Cup, and The Grand Prix, attracting crowds of fans.
It is also the Pinnacle of Irish Showing, attracting the Elite of the Showing Community, where it acts as a shop window for many of our beautifully produced Irish Sport Horses and Native Breeds such as the Irish Draught and the Connemara.
A sad day indeed, but I believe inevitable with the current situation. The RDS are currently working on dates for the Dublin Horse Show 2021, and will announce them in the coming days.
