We caught up with Ronan Rouillé from Job En Anglais who spearheaded a New Program for Young Irish and European Riders. The Program is situated in Brittany in the North West of France and is based in the Prestigious Haras National De Lamalle. This incredible Equestrian Centre has origins that date back to 1825, when it was established as Top Stud under Napoleon.
This beautiful and historic Equestrian Venue was taken over by a Syndicate in 2016 (Brittany Region, Department of Côtes d’Armor, Lamballe Terre et Mer, Lamballe Arm) who is now the current owner and is breathing New life into the Development. Now the Centre hosts Equestrian Courses, Equestrian Events, Exhibitions along with the many Tourist attractions to highlight the history of both the venue and the region.

The New Equestrian Course begins on the 1st of September, it is a Bac CGEH project that runs over 1 year and is offered by the MFR of Lamballe. This course is open to Young Irish and European Riders over the age of 18 Years who have their own horse. The qualification is the same as an A level qualification and provides a gateway for the young equestrian to further their education in other Equestrian Courses.
The opportunity allows the young rider to immerse themselves in the French Language and Culture while furthering their training and education with their own horse. Over the year the course is run both at Haras National De Lamballe and in a Professional Yard, alternating between both every 2 weeks. For example the successful candidates spend 2 weeks training at the Haras Centre; Mornings in the Classroom, while afternoons will be spent having training on their horse with a professional coach. The following 2 weeks the young candidates will gain hands on experience in a professional yard. This form of practical training is a way of preparing the young equestrian for future employment within the Equestrian Industry, while they gain a wealth of firsthand knowledge and experience in a Working Yard environment.
This course allows young Irish and European Riders the chance to Immerse themselves in French Language and Culture, while training with their horse at a Top Equestrian Facility. The Candidates will also gain valuable experience by working in a Professional Yard, preparing them for future employment within the Equestrian Industry.

Haras National De Lamballe is situated in a beautiful part of Brittany and close to the North West Coast of France, this Equestrian Centre sits on over 13 hectares, with beautiful spacious Outdoor and Indoor Arenas, Lunge Pens with around 100 stables. The Centre hosts regular Equestrian Events, along with Equestrian Courses and Tourist Attractions, so you can lose yourself in your Equestrian Education while enjoying the many activities and beauty of the region.
